Hello
I like to play video games oh so very much.
Right now, I am obsessed with Final Fantasy Tactics: War of the Lions, and the amount of spoony bards mentioned is making me weep in ecstatic hilarity.
I’ve actually played through most of it already, having clocked slightly under 90 hours. I am yet to hit the final battles because I am painfully obsessed with levelling up and side qests. Sadly, I, as usual, have already forgotten most of the plot details as a result of the vast amounts of grinding I have been doing. Thank god for the game script!
So last night, I programmed the battling party to autolevel and this morning, the sight of sweet, sweet maxed out Black Mage levels nearly made me swoon. It seems you would need about 8000 to properly learn every Black Mage skill. What the fuck, Square. Why the fuck would you make us go through that?
Nevertheless, I am thankful for the back door that is the autolevel. It makes life grand, though the first time I tried it, it took me an hour to get everything right. I’m still having issues with designating the appropriate abilities to my battling characters because I tend to attempt to maximise the autolevelling by making 4 out of 5 of them toad up and berserk. The first round I did, all the autolevellers were in their black mage job class (which sped things up a whole lot, omnom Orlandeau maxed the job without even being a Black Mage score!) but I’m relatively sure that each character being in individual job classes would cause a lot of tasty spillover Job Points anyway.
Speaking of which… optional story characters.
Balthier? A WET DREAM.
Cloud? Schizophrenic, as usual. What the FUCK were you thinking when you made him LEVEL 1? MY ENTIRE PARTY IS LEVEL 70 ON AVERAGE FFS. Balthier becomes available before him and his level is already so much higher than ONE. I am not looking forward to grinding Cloud. I know how risqué that last sentence reads but I am wholly serious. I don’t think ANYONE would want to grind Cloud when he’s an utter weakling. Not even Sephiroth.
On a less petty note, I seriously love everything about this game (though I wish characters were alotted one more ability slot for whatever you want to designate to him or her). The language, the art, the music (though it’s starting to get a wee repetitive now), everything. To the point that I’ve started chronicling the “story” of one of the generic characters you can recruit from any guild. I am that pathetic, yes.
So. Slightly under 90 hours (last time I checked). With the autolevelling I did last night, it’s probably under 100 hours now. By the way, Delita? Serious asshole. God.
I am really, really tempted to play through it again… but on the other hand, I don’t want to.
Go figure.
